Posting Rules, Standards & Activity
Posts are written in past tense.
Post Length
We want posts that give your character and the story room to breathe. Solo posts should aim for at least 500 words, and joint posts written by two or more players should come in at around 800 words or more. If you're contributing to a joint post, aim for at least 200 words so it counts toward your monthly quota. Paragraphs should be roughly 4-6 sentences to keep things readable and structured. If a post runs long, split it about every 800 words.
Monthly Activity
The expectation is two posts per month. Life happens though — if you need to step away, just let the CO and XO know and request a Leave of Absence. It's never a problem and won't be denied, we just ask for a heads up so no one is left wondering what's going on. If you're going to be out closer to the end of the month with posts still unfinished, try to get at least one wrapped up before you go. If you're stepping away mid-month, having at least one post done or nearly done goes a long way. The command team handles these situations with common sense and on a case by case basis.
Writing Together
We're all here to write good stories together, so try to give your fellow writers something solid to work with. The occasional short tag happens to everyone — no stress — but if posts are consistently thin it makes it hard for the rest of the crew to build off of, and we'll have a friendly chat about it.
If a writing partner hasn't tagged back after about 3 days, feel free to write a brief bridging line for their character to keep things moving. Just keep it simple, stay true to who their character is, and if you're unsure about anything just reach out to the command team. Solo posts are always an option if you're waiting on someone and need to hit your monthly requirement — don't let someone else's pace hold you back.
