18+ Content Post Guidelines
The primary question to answer when considering using more explicit content is as follows:
How will using explicit content communicate what my character is experiencing more than lower rated content?
If you can't come up with a valid and logical answer to this question, you do not need to use 18+ content in your post. Advanced rating content is a character and story development tool and not to be used so one can appear "edgy" for using it. If a reason is applicable, then you are free and encouraged to utilize 18+ content in your post.
Racist, disparaging or extreme derogatory terms are NEVER acceptable in any context within a post.
Acceptable - non 18+:
Jenna sighed, lounging back in her chair. These damn marines were starting to give her a headache with all their racket they were making. Such was the life living above the marine barracks. The bastards truly had no common decency in them for others who weren't awake all hours of the day. "They're fucking annoying, Danny. I can't stand them."
Acceptable - 18+:
Jenna sighed, lounging back in her chair and slurping down her drink that tasted mildly of ass. These fucking marines were starting to give her a headache with all their god damn racket. Such was the life living above the marine barracks. The bastards didn't give a shit for anyone else who wasn't awake all hours of the day. "They're fucking annoying, Danny, I can't stand the little shits."
Why is this 18+?: There is an overuse of swearing, however in the context of the post it is acceptable.
Not Acceptable:
Jenna sighed, lounging back in her chair and slurping down her drink that tasted like complete fucking ass. These fucking cocksucker marines were starting to give her a fucking headache with all their god damn racket. Such was the shitty life living above the assholes' barracks. The fucking bastards didn't even give one flying fuck for anyone else who wasn't awake every damn moment of every day. "They're fucking annoying as shit, Danny. I can't stand those cunts."
Why is this not acceptable?: Excessive use of swearing, use of extreme derogatory remarks (cocksucker, cunt).
Acceptable: There was a story sub-plot on a previous SIM that was accepted where the CMO of the crew was raped, kidnapped, then subsequently tortured by her kidnapper. This story line was approved by the command staff when the reasons and long term repercussions and consequences both personally and professionally were presented with the idea. The subsequent posts of this arc when approved were carried out tastefully and tactfully with many not even requiring an 18+ tag.
Unacceptable: As a general rule, anything with prolonged graphic descriptions of violent acts will not be acceptable. There may be exceptions to this rule but there would have to be an astoundingly good reason for it. If the scenario above were not tactfully executed, it would have been removed and revoked from the sim.
Acceptable - non 18+:
David turned his head and looked to Michael, smirking a bit as he felt his desire growing in response to his partner's gentle kiss and touch. He coaxed Michael's head up and kissed him deeply while he swiftly stood from their place on the couch with the smaller man in his arms. Clothes fell as they made their way to the bedroom until they collapsed in bed together naked. David drew Michael close and kissed him again, moving on top of him as his hands moved over Michael's body. He gave one more smile and began to move down, instigating another long night of passion for the both of them.
Why is this NOT 18+?: There is no explicit mention of any sexual acts and the appearance of nudity in a post does not automatically flag it as 18+. This is an example of a "fade to black" post.

Why is this not acceptable?: While the terminology is technically correct, this type of writing in regards to sex is considered too on the nose and because of that, comes off as crass. You want to leave some room for understanding and imagination that more "poetic" terms give.
Not Acceptable:
He pinned her down with her ass up in the air, shoving his cock into her pussy hard. He started to fuck her deep and hard, his balls slapping up against her clit.
Why is this not acceptable?: This language is much too crass and strong. This is what we would call smut for the sake of smut and it is not under any circumstances acceptable. There are still poetic ways to describe rough sex, but do once again keep in mind there needs to be a character building driven reason for it.
18+ Content Post Guidelines
The SS Amoran is an 18+ simulation. First and foremost, that means that no individual under the age of 18 is allowed to participate on or interact with this sim (this includes reading posts). This also means that our players as adults should be aware of both when and how to utilize the higher rating allowance in their posts. It is a tool to use for specific purposes within a post, not something to devolve into smut, excessive gore, or excessive swearing "just because". This page is to outline what is and is not acceptable for more explicit content on the simulation and is subject to change at any time.WARNING: The rest of this article will contain graphic examples of what is and is not acceptable on the sim. Please keep this in mind as you continue.

Expletive language (Swearing) should always be used in moderation. Light profanity is acceptable (damn, ass, bitch, bastard, etc.) in all posts. Violence/Gore
Violence and gore are two of the hardest categories to justify the use of on an 18+ level. This is also a category that it is suggested a player run their idea for a post through the command staff to make sure that it is even acceptable. General fights or "roughing up" of a prisoner are usually acceptable without approval, however incidents such as enslavement, rape, torture, or graphic gore (think graphic depictions of entrails spilling out of a person) will most definitely need to be cleared by the command staff and need to have a solid reason as to why, not "well I just had this off the cuff idea". Be prepared to explain the long term effects that this encounter will have on your character. Sexual Content
Writing sexual encounters is something that must be handled with care to ensure that it doesn't devolve into meaningless smut or sexual content "just because". Due to the physical and emotional connections sex naturally triggers, it can be a powerful development tool. This, more than any other thing, relies on a good answer to the question "How will using explicit content communicate what my character is experiencing more than lower rated content?". If such an answer is not present, then there is no reason that a "fade to black" scene would not work. As for writing style, sexual posts are to be written in a style more leaning toward a romance novel with more "poetic" terms used when possible.Acceptable - non 18+:
