Ship Security and Data Access Levels

Anyone that boards the vessel or tries to access a database is given a security clearance. This code has two factors. The first is a designation in Greek alphabet and determines physical access to locations in the ship. The second is a numeral to designate access to levels of secure data.

The combination of Alpha-Numeral is assigned per person based on position and department with exceptions made higher or lower on individual basis.


The levels are as follows:

Security Access Levels:

Alpha - Grants access to any non-secure area of a ship. This is the base access level.

Beta - Grants access to minor secure areas. Generally places necessary for day to day ship functions, i.e. Engineering, Science Labs, etc.

Gamma - Grants access to advanced secure areas. Generally things that involve security of the ship or base, i.e. Weapons Lockers, Photon Torpedo Launchers, Shield Systems, etc.

Delta - Grants access to the whole of the ship. This is generally reserved for the Captain and their Executive officer. Necessary for case by case securing of areas that are normally lower level access.

Data Access Levels:

Level 1 - Grants access to unclassified data. Specifications on general access technology and other such data files.

Level 2 - Grants access to public trust data. Information that is not damaging unless it is handled or modified incorrectly, i.e. Crew Manifests, Personnel Transfers, etc.

Level 3 - Access to all General Trust data as well as automatic access to confidential data of the department they are currently assigned.

Level 4 - Grants access to confidential data. Basic data for technology or logs for day to day ship functions, i.e. Transporter Schematics, Crew Work Logs, etc.

Level 5 - Grants access to secret level data. Technology schematics to weapons and shield technology and duty logs for department heads, i.e. Phaser Schematics, Photon Torpedo Specifications, Department Head Logs, etc.

Level 6 - Grants access to top secret level data. Includes special research, mission critical data, i.e. Ship Deployments, Personal Logs, Captain’s logs, etc.

Level 7 - Grants access to Captain only access. Documents that have been secured by the Captain for Captain only access, i.e. Specialized Directives, etc.
