New Ferenginar


Established as a small colony in 2372, New Ferenginar was the dream child of a number of Ferengi privateers looking to cash in on their own business opportunities after the failed dealings of Grand Nagus Zek and Quark. A lone planet with marsh lands covering it much like their own home world and outside of control of the Dominion, the world was a perfect foot hold in the Gamma Quadrant as well as an opportunity to avoid paying percentages to the home world.

When the war with the Dominion began in 2373, the Ferengi still on New Ferenginar were cut off from any support in the Alpha Quadrant and were forced to find new ways to survive and culturally had to begin to make some adaptations. For example, as a way to generate additional revenue and expand business opportunities, off worlders could opt to pay a fee instead of being forced to participate in certain traditional Ferengi laws. For example, women not being allowed to wear any clothing or conduct business on the planet, or men having to wear prosthetic ears and cod pieces. Off worlders are still not allowed in any sort of governmental facilities but may hire local Ferengi to file for licenses or otherwise they may need. In order to determine a ruling body for the colony, a group of Daimon-Ress were elected by the colonists to set policy and law.

As a result, the colony was able to survive and even flourish during the war. The increase in visitors and those looking to do business, assisted further in the brokering of trade deals and the like between different planets and sectors. This was vital to assist the Dominion in getting much needed materials for the war efforts, and as such New Ferenginar also was taking a percentage from every deal they participated in or that was conducted from their planet.

This flourishing business model was threatened in 2375 when Ferengi laws and business models changed as as whole back in the Alpha quadrant on the home world. However having been disassociated from the politics of the Ferengi Alliance itself since nearly it's inception, New Ferengenar's ruling body of Daimon-Ress voted to secede from any future Ferenginar decisions and declared themselves an independent world.

Over the next 5 years they continued to grow and develop the businesses and services provided on their world, to include 2 orbital docking facilities for ship maintenance and sales. A medium spaceport for the sales of shuttle and support craft is also in orbit.
