Avery considered Mei-Lin’s words and nodded his head while contemplating his response. “First let me say thank you for your honesty and candor. We won’t get anything done if we’re not open with each other. While I’ve had only a short time to study the specs for this class, I also realize that reality does not always match those specs. Your experience will be invaluable. As you alluded to, we can learn from each other. As for the dilithium problem, I might be able to do something about that. I would need to take a look at everything once we get back. I suppose we head back to the beam out point?”
"Of course. I am always up for having work double checked. As for the crystals though, I would double check with Zedd. Like I said, I am certain he has a lead he's working for it. Once he's got the new crystals however, we definitely will need your expertise. I've never aligned and started a refreshed warp core before. As far as deuterium and whatnot, we are looking good there." Mei appreciated Avery hearing what she had to say and relaxed some. At least as much as she could with all these people arounf them.
She motioned over by a parts shop she and Zedd had checked out when they came down "Right there should be sufficient. The ships automated tracker wont have an issue locking on and pulling us up."
Avery could tell the tension had lightened between he and his new co-engineer. “Don’t worry. I won’t be testing and grading you like my former students. Jokes aside, I’m glad we had the chance to talk. Opens the door for a better working and interpersonal relationship. Do you have comm devices to signal Dutchman?”
"I guarantee I'll give it my all. You can count in that." Being young she definitely had something to prove still. She reached I to her pocket and pulled out a small stone shaped device. "A simple signal device, coded to thumb print, body temperature, bio signature, etc. I'll get you setup with one after we get up there." She looked around to ensure everything was clear around them and pressed her thumb into the device. A moment later, the pair disappeared in a blue whirl.
The pair materialized in the transporter room of the Sabre-class Dutchman. Before he stepped off the platform, Morgan’s eyes glanced about him and breathed in the smell of recycled air. “It’s perfect, Mei-Lin. Very nice, indeed. Guess I should check in with Sykes. See you down in Engineering.”
