Check-in For Check Up - Part 1

Chief Engineer Morgan felt welcomed aboard enough, though he hadn’t met the rest of the crew. He was impressed by Sykes. He was direct, honest, and knowledgeable. Mei-Lin was equally as to the point. Morgan was attracted to her, but, considering they would be working together, those feelings would have to be put on the back burner for now. He was assigned quarters on deck 3, and he dropped off his belongings to deal with at a later time. Avery was currently on his way to sickbay for his first and mandatory medical evaluation. This was no Starfleet vessel, but Captain Sykes still held the crew to certain protocols, medical check-ups being one of them.

There was no doctor or Chief Medical Officer aboard, but there was a skilled medic who would be responsible for the health and well-being of Dutchman’s crew. Morgan entered sickbay to find an empty room. He saw biobeds, a diagnostic bay and shelves of medical supplies. He called out. “Hello? Anybody here? I’m here for my routine physical.”

Morgan’s voice echoed slightly in the seemingly unoccupied infirmary.

T'Vara was in the back office going through inventory lists and orders, seeing what they had received and what was still needed.. While being a private craft did have it's advantages in being able to jump certain procedures and red tape, it also made it harder to get supplies when they needed them because of this thing, called money.

The voice from a distance snapped the woman out of her focus and she stood up., walking out in her standard white medic uniform to see who was out there. She saw a man, a new man. Blonde hair, well built. He must be new. If anything he looked like he could be the head of security. It would be nice to have someone to ensure the ships and crew's safety. And at least he was something to look at. Better than Cormus for sure.

"Welcome to Sick Bay. Is there something I may assist you with? I am T'Vara, medic."

“Hello, T’Vara. Avery Morgan, the new Chief of Engineering. I’m here for my physical. Captain’s orders,” he said as he smiled softly. He had met many Romulans and Vulcans throughout his career, but none were as fetching as this Romulan woman. ‘Did every crew member on this ship step out of a fantasy simulation?’, he thought to himself. T’Vara’s eyes were a shade of green that could perhaps vaporize neutronium. She was beautiful.

“This is my first official day here on Dutchman,” Avery said and waited for her response. Before she had the chance to speak, he continued. “I have never seen eyes that color before. They’re just lovely. Anyway…I’m ready whenever you are. Where do you want to start?”

"Thank you" She replied. "A standard color for many Romulans, especially in the sub sect I am a part of genetically. However at times they also serve as sad reminder." She wasn't intending to come across as a wet blanket to the compliment, more just speaking in a matter of fact way.

"Please sit up on the bio bed over there, I am presuming you are here for a physical, we'll get your scans and I'll verify I have all of the standard vaccinations for you. We are still getting stocked up on supplies." It was good to know he'd be heading engineering, he likely would be a discussion point with her roommate, Mei-Lin, later this evening.

As Avery moved as requested, she pulled out a tricorder and opened it while continuing "Is there anything in your medical history I should be aware of? While I am not a doctor, patient confidentiality rules still apply here."

“Nothing remarkable. Had my wisdom teeth removed when I was younger. Thalasian flu when I was teenager. Nasty bout. I couldn’t get out of bed for over a week. That’s just about it. You mentioned a sad reminder. Of what, if I may ask. I were going to be working closely together…you can be honest with me. Come on, T’Vara. You tell me one, I’ll tell you one. Something no one knows about you, I mean.”

He was quite forward considering they had only known one another for a few minutes. And the current intent and setting felt odd to the Romulan. Still, the effects weren't lost on her. "Thalasian flu noted. As for my eyes, those I believe are a discussion for another time, and setting. As I am sure you are aware, Romulans are known for keeping secrets, present company included. If you want to know more, I require at the very least a meal and a glass of smooth Romulan ale. Then we'll see what I am willing to divulge." Her tone was almost flat but had a hint of softness in it, if one knew where to listen.
