T’Vara had taken note of Lindsy’s shift as well, and decided to break the topic wide open. “Avery’s approach towards dating is….anxious to say the least. After an examination, he asked me out to dinner. When I obliged, it started out nice enough but he was obsessed with getting me to his quarters. Even after polite declinations, he insisted further and became rather…desparate.” She paused and took a sip of her wine, which caused Mei-Lin to do the same.
All the while, Lindsy let out a small sigh at the bluntness shown by the Romulan. “Welcome to ladies night” she said looking at the XO.
Tiraa listened, was silent, and it was clear she was running something through her head. Finally, she looked at T’Vara and very slightly tilted her head. “T’Vara… isn’t he old enough to be your father?”
The medic considered for a moment and recalled his age from the examination. “He would have been a fairly young father to me when I was born, but yes you are correct. I will say if nothing else, he looks awfully good for his age. It’s a shame other parts of him don’t seem to have developed at the same rate.” The truth is visually, she was attracted to the man. But his dating process and approach to her culture had been mostly an insult. She attributed it to a lack of cultural understanding, but it had been enough for her to shut the door on it for good.
Mei-Lin looked over at Lindsy “I suppose the only one here close enough to date him on par would be Lindsy, but that’s not an option for him.” She didn’t want to guess Tiraa’s age, so she didn’t refer to her in the situation at all.
Lindsy took a sip of her wine “He’s not my type anyways.”
Despite the suspicions the women had about Tiraa’s knowledge of what was happening in their relationships, this all genuinely did seem to be new to her. She took a sip of wine and considered what T’Vara had told her, then glanced over to Lindsy at her comment. From what she understood, the gap between herself and Zedd would have been considered strange by human standards, but Tiraa didn’t find it so odd at all. She smirked then, mild and playful.
“No… we know your type.”
T’Vara let out a laugh, the comment catching her off guard. Mei-Lin gave a light smile, knowing she had been confident in her decision to break anything off with the Captain, allowing the opportunity for others to move forward. She then thought of her date with Cormus and smiled fully, more to herself than anyone else.
The host lifted her glass “That’s true, it certainly hasn’t taken long to be known.” She smiled as well “I do have a hard time staying away from trouble. I also am looking to be more decisive in my decisions and follow my intuition as well.”
Tiraa chuckled softly, though it was mildly guarded. “It is good to establish things early; much better now than with more urgent matters at hand.”
She looked at T’Vara then, her expression shifting to both mild sympathy and resolve. “The war was particularly hard on people like Avery, I imagine, and I’m sure that has left its mark. It is not, however, anyone’s job but his to address his inner demons and what they make him seek out. If he seems like perhaps he won’t take your no as an answer to his advances, I want you to come and tell me.”
“Of course” T’Vara said. She was quite resolute in her own ways, but always appreciated help when needed. “While I’m confident I’ve made my position on things known to him, if I have further issues I will report it accordingly.” There wasn’t much the woman was afraid of, thanks to her past experiences growing up.
Mei-Lin decided to chime in too “As will I, but as I’ve said, he’s been nothing but professional and a good teacher with me.” She made her way over to the ledge and grabbed her pastry where she had placed it, taking a bite. “These are awful good Tiraa, I’ll have to get the recipe and maybe Lindsy can make some” she said, teasing the Rigellian.
“Rallid made them, actually.” Tiraa commented without much thought and seemed content to move past the topic of Avery with no more thought paid to the man. “I’ll be sure to tell him you liked them.”
“Oh wow” Lindsy said. “It looks like I may have some competition on board. He seems to be quite talented, and committed. Have you worked with him for long?”
T’Vara, having finally had made her way over to a bench to sit down, and Mei-Lin, both shifted their attention to the green woman, curious as to what the answer would be.
Tiraa could feel the slight uptick in curious energy, and with mild amusement she wondered if they had been gossiping about the man. “Quite a long time, yes; and yes, you’re right, he’s very talented.”
She gave them nothing more than that; if they wanted to ask, they’d have to be brave.
Mei-Lin wasn’t going to press further at the moment. Lindsy decided she didn’t want to be rude as a hostess, and got out to grab wine and top off everyone’s glass. She didn’t bother with any modesty since she’d be getting right back into the water after.
T’Vara however allowed her curiosity to continue. “There has been talk of relationships so far this evening, we haven’t even gotten to Mei-Lin yet. However I am curious, based on what I have heard at least, are you and Rallid in a relationship? Meaning are you two close, in more ways than one?”
