New Faces - Part 5
While she was not actively imposing her mind on his, it was impossible for her to miss the drift of his thoughts and the abruptness with which he forced himself to stop following the thread. She had to make a conscious effort to not follow after it, and instead simply blinked once. She smiled easily, and brushed a bit of hair back over her shoulder. "Do I strike you as someone who would keep someone close by if they weren't skilled?"

“Only if you owed them. Or possibly some relation,” Ragnar said with a smile, raising an eyebrow before he chuckled. “But somehow, I suspect the person you keep close is more than they seem. So if they seem deadly, they are most likely also a poet. Or a great chef. Or just a little bit extra deadly.” He sat back, his eyes briefly drawn to the stars outside before returning to her. “I’m sure me and Rallid will get on like a warp core breach.”

Tiraa laughed, genuine and charming. He'd been standoffish to begin with - something expected and understandable, really - but now that he was a bit more at ease his personality was shining through and she was certainly happy to see that being the case. So often people wouldn't let their guard down around her for one reason or another... usually simply because she was green.

"Hopefully not quite as volatile as that, but perhaps."

"I don't know..." he looked at her, his green eyes shining with humour for a moment. He then took a deeper breath and looked down., the humour fading. She could easily see his mind, he knew that. Sort of an instinct you got with time. So he might as well save her the time. "To be honest with you, Princess...I am not usually good playing alongside someone. But I am not paid for hurting my own so..." he met her eyes and shrugged. "We'll work it out. I am sure if he has an issue with me he'll let you know."

It wasn't so much that Tiraa was prying at the man's mind more than he was rather "loud" and not exactly disciplined. She found herself wondering how exactly that came about, but it wasn't exactly a casual conversation question and certainly not something addressed with someone newly met. "Well, something you will need to get used to, given the circumstances."

Tiraa stood then, unhurried and elegant. "But as first officer here... you need to let me know if you have an issue with him as well, you know. That is how this works."

He searched her eyes for a moment before he raised an eyebrow, which showed the relatively fresh-looking scar just under it. "I am sure any issues can be...sorted out between us, without pulling in the First Officer," he said and for a moment there was a hint of...the Starfleet education. Just briefly, and more in the way he suddenly held himself. "Besides...We're strangers, how many issues can there be between us..." he winked, sitting back slightly. He wasn't...comfortable. It was more a front he was putting on. But he wasn't nervous or unsure either.

Tiraa could tell his heart wasn't in it, and while it was a bit disappointing, she wasn't surprised nor upset over it. She simply smiled and nodded. "Well, we'll see. I'm going to go back to my tour now. It was nice to meet you, Ragnar."

"And you," he said, giving her a nod as he watched her go. He let out a soft breath and then looked at the tea, frowning slightly before he schooled his features into something more neutral.
