Zedd listened and spoke up when Lindsy stopped “A potential payday of sorts then, something we can salvage and sell high value items from, presumably. It could be a large cargo ship or some sort of derelict luxury cruise craft. There’s bound to be something worth checking out, we may have to cut our way in but I’d say it’s worth a check, even with the interference.”

“Do we know why the station shut down?” Tiraa asked. Her attention was now on the PADD even when she spoke to them. She had vaguely heard of the system they were talking about, but given mining operations weren’t part of her portfolio, it wasn’t exactly something she had paid much attention to; something large but completely ignored did concern her, however; it was odd.

“As far as I could tell, it just seems they ran out of funding, and it was abandoned. Looks to have been an independent operation, as much in the Gamma quadrant is, that isn’t run by the Dominion. While the system does see a fair amount of traffic pass by, no one seems to be interested in going in further due to the interference and other things that are run across there. It’s dangerous for sure, but I’ve put together a few potential routes on the next page, and a scanning pattern from the central marked point that works outwards, to look for this craft. Maybe we can have engineering look at what they can do with the sensors to clean things up a bit once we get in there.” Lindsy was relaxed and at ease. She had for the most part gone through everything she was knowledgeable on and determined what appeared to be the most likely threats, but she also knew they were going in quite blind. But that was the nature of this business.

Zedd himself was excited at the potential of a lucrative payday, even if it was just salvage. Some of his biggest paydays were from salvage.

Tiraa finally lifted her black eyes from the text in front of her not to look at anything in particular, but simply to consider the information she was receiving - and not just from what Lindsy was saying. Zedd’s excitement was practically radiating off of him even though outwardly he looked composed, while Lindsy was calm in both mind and body. It was interesting to say the least, given she expected the woman to have more excitement within her at the prospect of her ideas being utilized.

She pursed her lips and then finally looked at Zedd. “It is definitely a potential risk. Is that what you want to pursue as your first mission with a new ship and crew?”

“A salvage mission sounds like a good test, it’ll let us go and identify operational gaps and should be easy enough to go and knock out. A solid shakedown if you will. Everyone will man their stations on the way in just in case there are any surprises. But I think a solid payday is a good way to start. There’s a high likelihood at least.” He took a breath and looked at Lindsy to read her face. She was calm, centered, and seemed to be in a straightforward mindset. Just as usual.

Zedd looked across at Tiraa “Do you have any concerns you can think of?”

“Actually, I’d rather hear what your concerns would be, Miss Vaelor.” Tiraa deflected for the moment and turned her curious gaze on the other woman. It would be telling, hearing what she had to say. It was her find, her plan, but what would she say were the risks?

She was a bit surprised to have it directed back to her but continued with the possible worries “I think it’s a pretty typical list. We don’t know what’s in there, could be good, could be bad. Could be an ambush, or a ship floating entirely shut down. Or maybe nothing at all. As far as the Nebula, there will certainly be navigational and sensor interference, communications blackouts at various ranges, it’s not pretty to say the least, in the navigational sense. But I know I can get us through there without trouble, at least to look for whatever we are intending to find.”

Zedd mulled over what Lindsy said for a moment before turning to Tiraa “So about what I was thinking, it seems. We don’t know what’s there, could be something, could be nothing. But why not go take a peak? Stretch the ship’s legs a bit.”

It was a sound analysis for the most part, Tiraa thought, but both were ignoring something important. “Why do we think something this large has been so ignored? It could be a potential huge payday, as you said, and there are certainly no shortage of people out here looking for just that in ships larger and potentially more advanced than this one with proven crews.”
